The Lambeth Career Cluster project was launched in November 2016, inspired by the Lambeth borough plan 2016 – 2021 ‘Future Lambeth’, which sets out the vision for inclusive economic growth.
The commitment of schools was evident from the ready participation by 17 different institutions including three special schools and a pupil referral unit. All schools completed a training needs analysis and used the Career Compass tool to evaluate the school’s programme of career learning.
There was also individual support to schools and all seventeen were able to meet the Stage 1 standards by February 2017. Eight of the schools are well on the way to reaching Stage 2 and the school in Lambeth that already held the Quality in Careers Standard has been successfully reassessed.
Support and training is continuing and will include a session in the autumn on effective evaluation of careers provision. It is the intent that all seventeen schools will achieve the Quality in Careers Standard by May 2018 as a value added measure of the project.
Each school recognises that participation in the Lambeth Career Cluster gives them a robust opportunity to take stock of current careers education provision and identify challenging development priorities.
